Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy died and three other people were injured.

The attacks succeed periods of aerial attacks in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
