Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of that year.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
